Diagnostic Radiology is the field of medicine dedicated to the detection of many illnesses,
injuries, or malformations of virtually any of the bodys parts or organs. People may be examined at any point
in their life spanning the period from prior to their birth up until the end of life. The field of radiology was
initially defined as the field of medicine that specialized in the use of x-ray equipment for purposes of diagnosis
and treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions.
As the field developed since the discovery of x-rays by
Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen in 1895, other energy systems have been incorporated into the production of diagnostic
imaging devices of many varieties including ultrasound, magnetic resonance, and nuclear medicine.
- Ultrasound examinations utilize sound waves transmitted into the body which reflect sound or pass through various tissues to
produce images of organs and vessels.
Koolau Radiology provides you with the widest selection of outpatient radiographic procedures. In addition to
routine plain film examinations, we administer specialized exams to meet the specific needs of our patients in Hawaii and throughout
the Pacific region. |
